General Information

This game is fundamentally the same as the previous versions of the games in the YI series. The player guides various different colored Yoshis through the side scrolling stages in a get-from-start-to-finish fashion. The game plot involves an island that suddenly appears above the land, and then a group of little kids goes missing. Its up to the lovable little dinosaur, together with his 4 Super Mario baby character friends Baby Peach, Baby Mario, Baby Wario and Baby Donkey Kong, to explore this strange island and rescue the children.

He can jump and hover for short periods of time, eat his foes, or change them into eggs (which can be used for various things, like hitting switches, or throwing them to defeat enemies from a distance), and hammer the ground around himself (to smash things). Some of the stages offer the little guy the ability to change into vehicles for short periods of time.

The game is quite a serious challenge, due to the different number of things that can happen depending on which of the babies you are carrying at any particular time. The different babies cause the game to play differently in each screen.
